Hello and welcome to
BAYERN
HAUS
Our Bavaria house was built in 1982, but not as a traditional hut, but as a second garage, and then later as a workshop and storage room.
May 2022
When we bought the house and property in 2021, the Bayern house was used as a storage room.
We are not at home in the Bavarian Alps either, but in the American Midwest. Specifically in Mustang, Oklahoma. About 15 km (10miles) south of Route 66.
In May 2022, the renovation and conversion work began to turn the garage into an Alpine hut as authentic as possible.
JUNE 2022
In June 2022 the bar was almost finished and we started laying the tiles.
JULY 2022
The bar was finished, and we also installed completely new windows throughout the hut.
4x4 pine beams were also installed at this time to give the whole the typical Bavarian Alm Hütte flair.
August 2022
The interior is slowly taking shape. The wood paneling on the windows is finished and the walls are finished too.
September 2022
The traditional garage door had to go and we built a new wooden door. Since the Bavarian Hütte style of construction does not exist here in the USA, everything has to be custom-made.
As inspiration for the entrance gate, I took the door from the old fire station in Strössendorf.
The black door bolt comes from our farm in Strössendorf, estimated age about 100 years
October 2022
We also had to customize the interior design in order to remain true to the Bavarian style.
A wood-burning stove including wall stones was also installed just before winter
May/June 2023
After a well-deserved winter break, we resumed work in May.
2 walls (south and west wall) were paneled with wood.
The gable was also covered with wood and a rooster was placed on the roof.
We also made and installed traditional shutters with our own logo
